Chandigarh administration, Puducherry government and Maharashtra government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with French government entity, Agence Francaise de Developpement -AFD-, to develop Chandigarh, Puducherry and Nagpur as smart cities.

Under the agreement, the French agency will provide technical assistance to the three cities and financial assistance may be considered at a later stage.
Adviser to Chandigarh administrator Vijay Dev has signed the documents on behalf of Chandigarh.
On the other hand, Puducherry Chief secretary Manoj Parida has signed the papers on behalf of the state government.
On the mean the time, Dayanand, a deputy director rank officer has signed an MoU with French entity behalf of the Maharashtra government.
